Frequently Asked Questions
Toy Rotation Club
How are toys cleaned between families?
Before each rotation, toys are carefully inspected and hand-cleaned using child-safe, fragrance-free products. Once fully dry, they are sanitized using chemical-free UV technology.
Learn more about our cleaning process here.
How does the toy club work?
Each toy box includes a set of curated toys (mostly wooden) selected based on your child’s age and interests.
For families within 15 miles of our Redmond store, we'll deliver your first crate straight to your doorstep - no errand needed. Otherwise, you're always welcome to pick it up in store. After your membership renews each month, you may rotate your full set anytime during open hours - in-store or via quick curbside exchange.
Prefer to keep your set longer? That’s perfectly fine. Your membership continues automatically.
What condition are the toys in?
All toys arrive in excellent, play-ready condition.
If you choose Rotated, your crate includes toys that have been thoughtfully enjoyed by another family and then professionally cleaned and refreshed before returning to circulation. You may occasionally notice gentle signs of real play, but every set is carefully curated to ensure it still feels complete, beautiful, and joyful.
If you choose First Play, your child will be the very first to enjoy a brand-new set of toys before they enter our rotation.
Regardless of plan, every crate follows the same high standards for safety, quality, and presentation.
What happens if a toy is damaged or a piece goes missing at home?
At Woodenland, we know that play is messy and life happens. Normal wear and tear - and the occasional missing piece - are part of real play and are covered under your membership.
Found a runaway squirrel? 🐿️
If a missing piece turns up later, simply put it in a small kraft return bag included in the crate and return at your next rotation. No stress, no late fees.
In rare cases of significant loss or damage - such as items not returned or unsafe for continued use - we may assess a reasonable replacement or repair fee. We will always reach out first to discuss before any charges are applied.
Supervision & Safety
Our toy rotation club is designed for children ages 3 and up who have largely moved beyond the mouthing stage. Some toys may include small parts, so adult supervision is recommended during play.
By participating in our toy rotation club, caregivers acknowledge that children’s play involves inherent risks. Woodenland Toys is not responsible for injuries or accidents resulting from improper use, lack of supervision, or use outside the recommended age range.
What if a toy is missing a piece?
Loose parts are part of open-ended play. In some cases, a toy may be missing a small, non-essential piece. We only rotate toys when they remain:
- fully playable
- developmentally appropriate
- visually and emotionally complete
If a toy no longer meets our standards, it is retired from circulation.
How do you ensure quality over time?
Every toy is:
- carefully inspected between rotations
- cleaned and sanitized using child-safe methods
- evaluated for play value before re-circulation
Toys that no longer meet our standards are removed from rotation.
What makes this a premium experience if toys are shared?
Premium, to us, means:
- thoughtful curation
- heirloom-quality materials
- intentional selection based on child development
- a calm, uncluttered experience for families
Rather than constant consumption, we offer carefully chosen toys that grow with your child, reduce waste, and make play more meaningful.
What if something doesn’t feel right?
We want every crate to feel right the moment you open it.
If you ever feel a toy doesn’t meet expectations, please reach out. We’re always happy to help.
When can I swap?
Each membership includes one full-set rotation per billing cycle.
After your renewal date, you may swap your full set anytime during open hours. You can view your next renewal date in your account portal at any time. You will also receive an email with a link to schedule swaps once you are eligible.
Do I need to schedule swaps or pickups in advance?
Yes. To ensure each set of toys is thoughtfully prepared and ready for you, swaps and pickups are scheduled at least 24 hours in advance through our online scheduling page.
Once you’re eligible to rotate, you’ll receive an email with a link to schedule a day and arrival window. Visits are relaxed and unrushed, and most swaps take just a few minutes.
If you have a special situation or need help scheduling, you’re always welcome to reach out by email or text.
Can I swap just one or two toys?
Yes. Each billing cycle, you may swap:
- 1 toy on the Explorer plan
- Up to 2 toys on the Creator plans
Partial swaps are available in-store or curbside during open hours and are intended for small adjustments if something isn’t quite the right fit.
If I skip a swap, does it roll over to the next month?
Yes. We offer one rollover swap for flexibility. If you choose not to exchange during a billing cycle, your unused full-set swap may roll over to the following cycle. Additional unused swaps do not continue to accumulate. This helps us keep toys circulating fairly for all families.
You’re always welcome to keep your set longer - your membership simply continues into the next billing cycle.
Do you offer shipping and swapping at doorstep?
At this time, Woodenland Toys operates with in-store swaps and pickups so we can offer a thoughtful, high-quality experience while keeping membership pricing reasonable.
Each toy rotation involves both returning the previous crate and receiving a new one. Shipping two ways can become costly very quickly - even locally. In addition, many of our toys are made from solid wood, which means our crates are naturally heavier than typical toy shipments. Higher weight translates to significantly higher shipping costs, and we don’t want to quietly build those costs into everyone’s membership.
In the meanwhile, we’re thoughtfully exploring shipping options. If shipping is introduced in the future, it would be offered as an optional add-on service with a clearly stated fee, so families can choose what works best for them.
Can I keep a toy if my child loves it?
Absolutely. If your child falls in love with a toy, you don’t have to say goodbye.
You may:
- Purchase the toy at a subscriber-only discounted price (subject to availability), or
- Continue enjoying it as part of your toy rotation program. Your subscription payments for that toy count toward ownership. Once the total reaches our discounted purchase price, the toy is yours.
No pressure, no rush - just follow your child’s lead.
Can I skip, pause or cancel my subscription?
Absolutely. You can skip, pause or cancel your subscription anytime through your customer portal. If you choose to do so, please return the toy set currently in your care by the end of your current billing cycle to avoid a replacement fee. Once the set is returned, your subscription will be skipped, paused or canceled with no further charges. You’re welcome to resume whenever it works for your family.
Is the toy rotation club available nationwide?
Currently, our toy club serves local families only. This allows us to personally clean, inspect, and care for every toy between rotations.
Retail
Do you sell toys online?
At this time, retail toys are available in-store only. We believe toys are best chosen in person - seen, touched, and explored thoughtfully.
General
What is Woodenland Toys?
Woodenland Toys is a local toy store and rotation club focused on high-quality wooden toys that support open-ended play. We thoughtfully curate each set, care for every toy between families, and offer a calm, low-clutter way to enjoy premium play materials.
Where are you located?
We are a local, community-focused store. Please visit our Visit Us page for our address, hours, and accessibility details.
Do you carry plastic or electronic toys?
We primarily focus on wooden toys made from natural materials with child-safe finishes, as they tend to be open-ended, durable, and calming for children.
That said, in a small number of cases, we may include non-wooden toys when they best support a specific learning or developmental purpose and no suitable wooden option is available. Any such pieces are chosen with the same care, quality, and safety standards as the rest of our collection.
Our selection is intentionally curated and limited - every toy is included for a reason.
Visiting the Store
Is your store stroller-friendly?
Strollers are welcome. Please note that our store is located on the mezzanine level and is accessible by stairs only. There is no elevator on site.
